Mother’s Day is this weekend and is a special day to appreciate the hard work and dedication of Mothers everywhere. For many mums, however, it can also be a time of reflection on the challenges and obstacles we face as we navigate the complex world of work and family.
As a mother myself I know only too well the challenges this presents.
For those thinking about returning to work after having a child, the challenges can be particularly daunting. Whether it’s those feelings around leaving your child in someone else’s care, the struggle to find flexible work arrangements, or the fear of falling behind in our careers, the transition to returning to work can be a difficult one.
One of the biggest challenges facing working mums is the need for flexibility. We want to be there for our children’s important moments, such as school events or doctor’s appointments, but also need to fulfil our work responsibilities. This can be especially difficult when we are in traditional 9 to 5 jobs, where fixed schedules can make it nearly impossible to balance work and family obligations.
Fortunately, there are many options available for us mums when looking for more flexibility in our work arrangements. From job sharing to remote work to flexible hours, there are a variety of ways to balance work and family responsibilities.
Another challenge for many working mums is the guilt we feel about leaving our children in someone else’s care. While it’s natural to worry about our child’s well-being, it is also important to remember that there are many qualified and caring child care providers available. By doing the right research and finding a provider we trust, we can feel confident that our child is in good hands while we are at work.
Finally, it’s important to acknowledge the fear many of us working mums have about falling behind in our careers. While it’s true that taking time off for parenting can have an impact on our career trajectory, it’s also important to remember that there are many successful women who have been able to balance work and family obligations. By staying engaged in our field, networking with colleagues, and continuing to learn and grow, we can keep our careers on track while still being there for our family.
So my message is that by staying engaged, finding support, and believing in ourselves, we can successfully navigate the complex world of working motherhood.
One of the main reasons I set up my business was to allow me to have that flexibility and if you are an experienced administrator looking to return to the workplace, part-time, in a business that offers a friendly and flexible environment why not get in touch and we can discuss the opportunity that I currently have open here at VirtualGo.
I am always keen to hire new team member swho will bring their existing experience and knowledge of high-level administrative support to the table and build on the relationship and services provided to our clients, and in return will provide that flexibility and space to work in a fulfilling role and continue a successful career whilst being able to be there for your family.
